OgFARM1
Chief Mud Management Specialist
High Tor Estate is seeking a experienced, thick-skinned Senior Farmer who isn't afraid of 4:30 AM starts, horizontal Peak District rain, or sheep with a suicidal inclination to escape through hedge gaps.
We farm 450 acres of mixed arable land alongside a herd of 120 commercial beef cattle and 300 breeding ewes. If you know how to talk down a stubborn tractor engine with mild swearing, can spot a sick lamb from 100 yards away, and enjoy eating lunch out of a Tupperware container on a muddy hill, this is the job for you.
Key Responsibilities:
Livestock Negotiations: Oversee daily feeding, lambing, calving, shearing, and healthcare for cattle and sheep.
Machinery Operation: Drive tractors, balers, and combine harvesters without reversing into historic stone walls.
Fence Warfare: Continuously repair drystone walls and barbed wire fences that sheep actively conspire to destroy.
Weather Endurance: Work efficiently outdoors regardless of whether it is freezing, sweltering, or hailing sideways.
Requirements:
Minimum 4 years of hands-on commercial livestock and tractor driving experience.
PA1 & PA2 Spraying Certificates (desirable).
Full UK Driving Licence + Trailer (E) entitlement.
Ability to diagnose tractor troubles by sound alone.
