Senior Data Engineer

About the role
Shell USA is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our Energy Trading & Supply
technology team in Houston on an initial 6-month contract (extension likely). You will
design and operate the data pipelines that power near-real-time trading analytics and
regulatory reporting.

What you'll do
- Build and maintain batch and streaming pipelines (Python, Spark, Kafka) feeding the
trading data platform.
- Model and optimize datasets in a cloud data warehouse (Snowflake / BigQuery).
- Partner with quants and risk teams to productionize analytics and ensure data quality.
- Implement monitoring, lineage, and alerting for critical trading data flows.

What you bring
- 5+ years of data engineering experience, ideally in energy, commodities, or finance.
- Strong Python and SQL; hands-on with Spark and a modern cloud data stack (AWS preferred).
- Experience with orchestration (Airflow/Dagster) and CI/CD for data.
- Comfortable working onsite in Houston at least 3 days per week.
