Job Title: General Manager - Manufacturing Operations
Location: Plymouth, Devon (on-site)
Salary: £85,000 - £100,000 per annum
Employment Type: Full-time

Our client, a well-established precision manufacturer based in Plymouth, is seeking a General Manager to lead their manufacturing operations. This role is pivotal in driving strategic initiatives aligned with the group’s business objectives. The successful candidate will be responsible for steering the manufacturing site to achieve superior commercial outcomes while ensuring operational excellence. With an emphasis on enterprise-level impact, this position requires an individual capable of transforming operational strategies into tangible results, thereby enhancing the company’s market position and facilitating long-term growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Full P&L accountability for the manufacturing site
• Leading a senior leadership team across production, engineering, QHSE, warehouse, and continuous improvement
• Setting and executing the operational strategy aligned with group business objectives
• Driving a high-performance culture through engagement, empowerment, and accountability
• Overseeing capital investment decisions and long-term capacity planning
• Building and maintaining key client and supplier relationships
• Reporting directly to the Group Board

Required Expertise

• Proven track record at General Manager, Operations Director or equivalent C-suite level with full P&L accountability
• Demonstrable P&L management experience at site level
• Strong leadership credentials with experience managing multi-disciplinary senior teams
• Track record of delivering operational transformation and continuous improvement at scale
• Degree in Engineering, Business or equivalent; MBA advantageous
• Excellent stakeholder management at board level

Desirable Skills

• Experience in a privately owned or PE-backed manufacturing business
• International manufacturing exposure
• Lean Six Sigma or equivalent accreditation
